Best-Stocked Kitchen — Making Creation Easy Part 1
Your top/ best-stocked kitchen is and will always make not only your job in the kitchen manageable but also even more importantly – still make creating easy.
Some people say “a well-stocked kitchen” —- yes, that is what it is — but if you’re just starting out that process, it may take a little longer than like, some people — getting to that point in one swoop.
Let me tell you how I first started out at my first apartment in Boston. The store I was directed to was in Shrewsbury Massachusetts — Spaggs… Spaggs was in today’s equivalent to a Dollar Store. I went absolutely crazy. Of course what I didn’t realize at the time was that the money that I saved purchasing all of my items I, clearly, wasted in gas. I bought every pot, pan, utensils, dish, glass, cup, silver, dry storage and groceries I could carry for almost $200.00. As much as I hate telling you that that was about a hundred years ago — it was.
Today, $200.00 won’t get you, as we all know, very far. So, what I am going to do is give you the basics in a two-part blog, just so as not to bore you to death. Today’s will be the primary and essential food list. A list that you should aim for over the first month or two of purchasing.
So, if you take this list that I’m about to give you, add or subtract and work it any way that fits your lifestyle, I promise you that it will make your cooking experience, whether for family, friends, breakfast, lunch, dinner, party — your weekly Big Sundaydinner gathering or just for yourself, an enjoyable, creative time. There is nothing worse than rummaging around, looking for items that are not already at your disposal – or that isn’t making your experience quick, fast and fun.
I always remember the “kitchen” living experience in my Big Italian family. My mother, father and all aunts and uncles would stillmakeeveryday cooking and eating the center of me and my sibling’s lives. We had many wonderful, loving times filled with laughter, dancing, singing and , yes – those times of the classic Italian life, everyone yelling, screaming and crying — but each and every day, night, holiday and party always ended with hugs, lots of kisses and always Amore – Love.
